The Visual Hunt is Almost Over!

It's almost the end of March & that means the Visual Hunt is drawing to a close. If you haven't had a chance to get all the items you wanted, now is the time to do so! I want to say a special Thank You to all of the shops that participated & of course to Actuate Eden & Nihon Ongaku Publishing for sponsoring, organizing & creating great prizes for the hunt & also to Kanzen ni Jrock for sponsoring the hunt. It has been a real pleasure working with everyone!

I would like to say a BIG thanks to all of the hunters as well & ask you all to please feel free to leave me any feedback concerning the hunt. I welcome your questions, comments & suggestions. As as co-organizer I wish to continue to improve future hunting experiences!

Thank you so much for your support!

BTW ~ I REALLY think you should get the dragon scarf from my friend & NOP owner Taki's shop HTxDZ, not just because we are friends & I think it's extra cute, with the super cool dragon scale texture, (& only 10L!) but because it totally matches the cool ankle boots he made for the upcoming *Fashioncentic Hunt that starts April 1st! He was nice enough to give me the special "Sneak Peek" pair that you see in my picture & I really like them a lot! Wait till you see them yourself! You will be bummed you didn't get the matching scarf if you don't go get it now! (You really have to see the texture in person, it's got so much depth & translucence. It's really pretty.)

(This is Taki's vendor pic so you can get another view of the scarf, but trust me, you HAVE to see it in person!)

*

PS ~ I also thought this jewelry set from EBDesigns was really cute & the creator made it TRANSFER so I bought like, SIX so I could give some as gifts. The detail is really nice & it's a very charming little set! (This is the vendor picture - I did NOT take this. I wanted to get a photo because I actually wore this quite a bit inworld, but I just never got a chance.) Anyway - Go grab this now, it's only 10L & you get both items! It's a really good deal & it's looks even cuter in person!

Finally ~ If you missed my other blog posts about the Visual Hunt, check them out here & here. Also check out the official hunt blog here for more pictures of the other great hunt items! Remember the hunt ends at the end of the month so time is short, but all of the SLurls are on the blog, you don't have to go in any order & the prizes are pretty easy to find. Thanks again & Happy Hunting!

R.I.P. Sophie

(This picture is from about 2005 or so? It's always been one of my favorites of her.)

Well, my dear, sweet Sophie was put down today while I was out of town at a Doctors appointment. Her health has been failing for a while, (she had what we thought was a stroke about 7 months ago, has been having "accidents" in her sleep, limping, didn't seem to hear us when we spoke to her, anymore, etc.) & My Mom had taken her to the vet today to find that she was riddled with cancer so bad that parts of her bones were gone.

She was the sweetest, most loving, gentle dog I ever knew. I just saw her the day before yesterday & she was limping but she was wagging her tail & happy to see everyone as always. She must have been in great pain for a long time, but she always was very sweet & gentle. We think she was about 18 or 19 years old, (we can't be sure because they didn't really know her exact age when we adopted her in Vegas in the mid-90's.)

I have so many great memories with her - She was part of my family for the last 17 or so years! She was a pit-bull & beagle mix, really smart, very cuddly & we never had ANY problems with her. She could be trusted with babies, children, old people, other dogs, CATS - (Toulouse, our cat, was actually in LOVE with her,) even little Ricky, the new puppy, who bites with razor sharp teeth was constantly harassing her & she didn't snap at him.

She was a great companion, a wonderful friend, super cute & loving, very fun, smart, (all I had to do was point & speak to her in normal tones & she would understand me because I trained her that way,) she had a sense of humor & she would always come put her head on my knee when I was upset or crying. She would look at me with her sweet face & it was pretty hard to be sad after that. Dogs are so wonderful but unfortunately their lifespans are just a fraction of ours. I am totally heartbroken that she is gone.

 <3 R.I.P. Sophie <3

(This is one of the last pictures I took of her, on March 21st. You can see she was really old & thin.)

(This one is from around 2005 I think & also features her "sister" Sheila, who unfortunately had to be put down in 2010. I always loved this picture because it looks like they are both smiling so big! )

Visual Hunt Still On!

I have been meaning to make a Second Life post for quite some time but I have been having major internet issues, plus, I'm still sharing the "good" computer with my boyfriend until we can get some new parts for his comp. Needless to say it's been a lot easier & less frustrating to just type up some thoughts about Music or World Events on my laggy laptop than try to create a cool look in SL & keep getting booted. I really did want to make sure everyone picked up the items they wanted from the Visual Hunt before it ends, though! If I can manage to stay online long enough I will try to put together at least a few more looks over the next couple of days. (I am also calling AT&T tomorrow. I thought maybe it was the weather, because we have been having some storms but this is getting a little ridiculous!)

ANYWAY - just to remind you, the Visual Hunt is brought to you by Actuate Eden, Nihon Ongaku Publishing & Kanzen ni Jrock. The theme this time is Year of the Dragon, each item is 10L & you can see pictures of most of the items on the official Visual Hunt blog.  You don't have to go in any particular order, all the SLurls are on the blog & it's really pretty easy, so you won't be tearing your hair out trying to find the items. You have until the end of the month to grab what you like so please check out my pics here & my previous post, along with the official blog & support the creators & their shops. Also, please look forward to our next upcoming Hunt - the theme is VERY original & I can't wait to tell you all about it! Thank you for your support & Happy Hunting!

The Started-It's: The Shocker!

Please take a look at the video that my longtime friend & music promoter, Alex Ilich, (or "Sasha" as I've always known him,) conceived, scripted, produced, etc. for the San Francisco band, The Started It's. The song is called "The Shocker," so it's pretty safe to assume there's some "adult humor" going on here! The video is fun & silly, shot & edited by a newer acquaintance of mine, Christopher Sorrenti, & the song is upbeat, kind of "pop-punk." I think everyone did a really good job! Please support them all by clicking "like," subscribing, & leaving a youtube comment! You can also "Like" them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, check out their Official Site, buy their music on itunes & amazon & be sure to catch them live when they come to a venue near you! Thanks for your support!

The Visual Hunt is ON!

Yes, that's right, Nihon Ongaku Publishing's "Visual Hunt" started on March First! Owner & Hunt organizer Taki Kujisawa worked very hard & I was happy to help out. (I am now even an "official" co-organizer for NOP! Thanks, Taki, I look forward to working with you on more hunts & events!) The creators made some very cool items & we even had some last minute additions from creators eager to add their items to the hunt! I will be taking pictures over the next few days to show you some of these items so you can see what is available, (this is just the start.) Each prize is only 10L & all the SLurls, Hints & vendor pictures are always available on the official Visual Hunt Blog.
Happy Hunting!

Parka your Cargo

This is my "male alter ego" & the very first "alt" I ever made on Second Life, about three or so years ago!. He is very special to me but I have been kind of neglecting him lately so I decided he deserved a new outfit. I went to Saikin & got this great mesh parka & the cargo pants. They also had some really great boots I wanted to pick up but I ran out of money, so maybe next month he can go shopping again. I am also going to start doing some of the male-centric hunts with him again. I will admit I am usually more comfortable using my female avatar, but it can be very liberating & fun to walk around SL as just a regular "dude," & it's also more challenging to find great, quality, fashionable clothes I like that are for guys.

Say Hello to My Little Friend!

Thanks to everyone who helped pick a name for my Mother's new puppy & to our friend Denise, who chose the winning name. We went though every name you can think of & this one really just seems to suit him. We haven't decided if he is Ricky Ricardo or Ricky Martin, yet - That we will still have to figure out! Thanks again for everyone's help!

******EDITORIAL NOTE******  My Mother has decided that this little bundle of joy is now Rikki Tikki Tavi - in reference to the valiant mongoose from the beloved Rudyard Kipling tale. (Even though he is more like a spastic, bitey little terror at this point, nomnomnom :P) Anyway, I will make ANOTHER, updated picture for him. I have more, newer pictures anyway - he's put on some weight & has grown!

Candy Heartbreaker (Belated Valentine)

I meant to post this on Valentines Day, but some desktop computer issues, (which my poor boyfriend Ted stayed up all night & most of the day working on) & my lack of good or speedy photoshop skills & also the fact that I had to take a break to do some first life activities, (like go visit my Mom's new puppy. As you know we were trying to find a name for him. We have settled on "Ricky," but my Grampy wants to call him "Micky," like the mouse, because he's so small, but we don't like that, so we are locked in battle over this, lol,) Anyway, I was only able to use my laptop to post music blogs recently because it won't run Second Life. There are still some issues, but I was finally able to get through a few hours of walking around to gather my SLurls for this outfit I have been wearing a couple days & posing for pictures long enough to deliver you a belated Valentine. It actually worked out ok, because when I woke up yesterday I discovered that my friend Kiba Tachikawa, the owner of Actuate Eden, just put out a great face tattoo inspired by the G-Dragon song & video Heartbreaker that REALLY finished of my Valentines look & if I had posted earlier I don't think it would have been quite the same <3

Happy Valentines Day!

To all my Friends & Family all over the World, with Affection & Regard <3

Blues Funeral

Today I received the Mark Lanegan Band cd that I had pre-ordered about a month & a half ago. I am a very longtime, hardcore fan & I have to say I am not disappointed at all. It's really beautiful: full of dark, evocative poetry, lush emotion, masterful musicianship & ghostly harmonies...I couldn't be happier. The mix is clear & his voice is gorgeous, deep & haunting, touching my very soul. I'm in heaven. He was the lead singer of The Screaming Trees, has a prolific solo career, was in the Queens of the Stone Age, worked with U.N.K.L.E, worked on a children's album, done three albums with Isobel Campbell, worked with Greg Dulli on the Gutter Twins, done albums with the Soulsavers & probably a million other things I don't even know about. He is wildly respected all over the world & revered by his fans & other musicians for his talent. He is in the top three of my all-time favorite male singers & probably the top three lyricists as well. Amazing man. I could go on & on. I think I own ALMOST everything Mark Lanegan has done but actually, no, that would be pretty hard since he never stops working. Check him out. He's very serious. He does not move, live, he's like a tree. So stoic!

The Gravedigger's Song (from Blues Funeral)

Please enjoy some older Lanegan favorites, you might be surprised!:

Gospel Plow: (with Screaming Trees)

Carnival: (From Whiskey for the Holy Ghost)

Mockingbirds: (From the Winding Sheet)

Morning Glory Wine: (pretty sure Gregg Dulli is on this one, track is on the album Bubblegum)

Methamphetamine Blues: (features Josh Homme, PJ Harvey & Jonathan Russo)

Hanging Tree: (Live, with Queens of the Stone Age)

Revival: (singing with the great band Soulsavers who I saw him with! The video is quite interesting as well.)

Sunrise: (again off of Whiskey for the Holy Ghost. This is an outstanding album, start to finish. Really a gem.)

Wish You Well: (Probably one of my all-time favorites. So short & simple sounding musically, but the lyrics are pure beautiful, sad poetry to me. Makes me cry like a baby.)

Help Name Him!

Help us name my Mom & Grampy's new Chihuahua. He's really tiny. We put a quarter down so you can see how small he is - his little paws are the same diameter as the quarter! He's just a pup, too, only about six weeks old. Possible names so far: Arlo, Mario, Moby & Paco, but we are open to suggestions. HELP!

RibboN

I was doing the Cafe Hunt & got a lot of nice free prizes but I also ended up buying a lot, like these shorts, vest/blouse combo & great hat from RibboN. I love this store. The stuff is so cute, inexpensive & I have blogged them before. Here are those Nardcotix shoes again, from the last post. I told you I love them! I'm sure this won't be the last time I'll use them, either.

Armed Elegance

It seems like ages since I've posted. No, I'm not a current, up-to-the-minute SL blogger. I'm more of a slow, thoughtful, broke/lazy person who takes their time & uses things over & over a LOT, so if you are looking for the "latest thing" you already know this isn't the blog for that, lol. Anyway, I got this dress a while back & never blogged it, but I think it's really beautiful & I have worn it a lot, so here you go. It's called Armed Elegance & it's from House of Fox. The shoes are from Nardcotix & I have been wearing them so much as you will see in upcoming posts. They just seem to go with everything in my inventory.

Dante Vs Zombies ~ "Oblivion"

I've had this song stuck in my head since I first saw the video/heard the song. On a facebook post to the band I jokingly said they sound like Hawaii-five-0's hitch-hiking acid cousin of the Beach Boys, but this seems sillier & more dismissive than I wanted it to sound. I have been a long time fan of the music made by Dante White Aliano & the people he chooses to work with . He's extremely talented & has good taste. I urge you to look google, facebook, youtube & otherwise poke, prod & defile him/them on the world wide web. You will be glad you did. His music has been featured on movies & tv soundtracks. New album coming out soon! This song makes my ears shimmer, thanks I'm sure to the great musical performances by the band including the mixing by Drummer Jeff Ehrenberg & Dante. This video is funny & these kids, (I can say "kids" (lol) 'cos they are all at LEAST a year younger than me I know, ) Look & sound GREAT  ~ Enjoy!

Pretty In Tangerine

I made another outfit using the same shoes, socks & bag as last time. Well, what can I say, when I find things I like, I tend to use them a lot! I also tend to save up & buy little things here & there, or indulge in fatpacks, like I HAD to do when I saw how great the new Fashionably Dead skins were after seeing them recently modeled in a post on Steffy Ghosts' blog. She's the creator of Jack Spoon, has great style & I always get a lot of inspiration from her blog. She was also wearing some great, thick eyebrows I have been seeing everywhere & coveting, so I hopped over to Cheap Makeup as well. One of my biggest regrets is over-plucking my eyebrows in the 1990's, (when it was the fashion to do so,) because they never fully grew back, leaving me with thin brows, which can be a little "aging". I long for the thick brows of my youth, which brings me to this outfit, a nod to the era of my teens. This look has a real 80's vibe to me, the brightly colored, slightly oversized  belted sweater worn over a feminine, ruffly shirt, skinny, high-waisted pants, slouchy socks with tasseled shoes, jaunty hat with messy hair, the great bag & the glasses, for sure. It's kind of a sleeker, more sophisticated version of Molly Ringwald's Andie character from Pretty in Pink: Pretty in Tangerine?

PIDIDDLE Anya Tote - previously blogged. I got this at the Dressing Room, but it's no longer there. I went to the Pididdle mainstore, but didn't see it. Maybe it just slipped my view? I really love it, though.
Paper Couture Bird Ring (Marketplace) I didn't get any close-ups of the ring this time around, but take a look at the pic on marketplace, it's really cute. All of her jewelry is outstanding. At any rate, I will be wearing it a LOT, so I'm sure I will get better pics of it soon. I also bought a few necklaces so I am excited to wear those as well!

I just had to post this awesome video really quick because I am liking it so much. Seoulbeats & My Music Radar did really good, descriptive write-ups so I won't try to out-do them, lol. Enjoy!~

Emily Nomad Dress

A couple weeks ago The Dressing room featured this dress from Mimikri & I just fell in love with it. The fabric texture is like an impressionist peacock. So lovely.  I plied on a bunch of fur, pearls & flowers to complete my look & finished it with a bag that has tassels to match those on my shoes. I adore the frills & flounces so much. There's so many wonderful textures going on here. I want to take this look out of SL & into real life, with a faux fox, of course! All details below.

Cafe Hunt & Ancayi Closing ~ 50% off!

SO, I was starting the Cafe Hunt by Little Crown, you start here~ look how pretty!

and I only got up to number 6 when I noticed that the shop Ancayi is closing at the end of this month so I thought I should stop everything & let you all know. They are having a 50% off sale so maybe swing by & pick something up. I have purchased lots of adorable things there including sweet leggings, unisex punk pants & a supercute pink neko hoodie, among other things. Here's hoping they are moving onto greener pastures. Best of luck to them!

I will be updating on my Cafe Hunt Items as soon as I finish, because there are many items I really want to grab, but I have been having major computer & internet issues so wish me luck. I'm pretty sure all the items are photographed on the Seraphim blog. Also, check the Little Crown Flickr (especially their favorites section for lots of pics from vendors & hunters of the Cafe Hunt items,) & their Blog for the hunt list & hints. I know this is a quick post but there will be more so ~ Happy Hunting to you all!
